Dr. Andrew Padmos is the CEO of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He joined the College in September 2006 and since then has led an ambitious agenda of change, development and expansion to enhance postgraduate medical education and training, membership engagement and recognition, volunteer programs, health policy, external relations and international outreach.
Educated in political sciences and economics at the University of Toronto and in medicine at McMaster University, Dr. Padmos completed specialty training in internal medicine and hematology in 1976. A hematologist by profession, Dr. Padmos practised in King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 1978-1993 where he developed a bone marrow transplant program, managed a large clinical program in hematology and oncology and served in many administrative capacities.
Dr. Padmos leads the Royal College in transforming PGME through “Competence by Design” and the expansion of international outreach to Gulf countries, China, and Chile.
